If you walk around this Great Big World long enough, you'll learn that stress is something you simply can't avoid. It's like one of those giant gnats that magically seems to multiply after you swat it away. It's like no matter what you do, once you're stressed everything else takes a back seat including your relationship.
But how? Well, think about it. If you're "stressed out" and overly concerned with something at work or in your personal life, "Are you really going to be your usual bubbly self"?. Are you just going to grab your boyfriend and say, My cat just died, let's go party!". Probably not, this is why I just wanted to take a few moments to let you know 4 sneaky ways stress can hurt your relationship.

Are you just going to grab your boyfriend and say, My cat just died, let's go party!". Probably not, this is why I just wanted to take a few moments to let you know 4 sneaky ways stress can hurt your relationship.
Number 1 - Stress Can Kill Your Sex Drive
When your mind is on bigger and more pressing things such as work and/or physical pain, Sex is the last thing top of mind and will only serve as a temporary distraction to a real problem ..at best. Now depending on how needy "Babe" is in the bedroom, this can cause significant strain in your relationship, especially if the stress is prolonged. Days with no sex are easy, but months of no sex can cause people to say, think and do stupid things. |
Number 2 - Stress Can Decrease Your Level Of Patience
Have you ever felt like you were going to snap if one more thing goes wrong in your day? Have you ever felt like you just can't add one more demand to your list or your going to explode? ..And then find yourself completely decapitating your boyfriend moments later because he forgot to do something as simple as putting the toilet seat down? If so, you already know how ugly stress can get. |
Number 3 - Stress Drains Your Battery
When you are stressed, sleep can either become your best friend or a distant cousin. Either you will sleep too much or not enough and before you know it, your relationship feels the impact. If you don't sleep, you can be cranky and argumentative. If you sleep too much you can become dull and lethargic. How many people do you know that want to cuddle with a lethargic cranky person? |
Number 4 - Stress Can Cause You To Withdraw
If one allows stress to come into full view, it's presence can manifest in any number of ways, but for some it causes them to withdraw. Withdraw from work, hobbies, interests... boyfriends. Stress would strip the luster right off of the sun's rays given the opportunity. This is the reason it's important to develop good stress-management skills to lift that cloak of darkness when it wraps it's icy grip. Without effective methods of coping or dealing with stress, life can become overwhelmingly difficult to manage. Little things like going out on a date or washing your hair can seem like climbing Mt. Everest. Don't let stress consume you or your relationship. |
