Gunshots rang out and it was all she could do to keep her heart from jumping out of her chest. Anna wondered if time had finally caught up to her "Bad Boy", as he is known for causing quite a stir during the late hours.
The first thought on her mind was that Daryll, the man she loved so, would never come home again.
He's always been a troubled soul, but he'd promised her that he had changed. Was she wrong? Was she mislead? Did he deceive her by pretending to be a nighttime stocker when all the while he was really still in the streets?
Thoughts like this always flooded her mind whenever frightening sounds struck her ears. For years, men have lied and deceived Anna, but she was hoping that this time, Daryll would be different. Maybe for once, a man would tell her the truth and remain honest, at least long enough to meet her parents.
Anna's mother often told her that she'll never get married because none of her relationships have ever lasted over 6 months. Now, Anna isn't Kim Kardashian, but she is attractive So what could it be? Is she too trusting? Or not trusting enough?
And just like that, a knock at the door stopped Anna's mind in it's tracks. Anna froze with terror, fearing the worst and thinking that it was the news that she did not want to hear.
Knock..Knock..Knock
With heavy feet, Anna carried herself to the door and opened it. And there he was, all 6'4 of the man she loved so much standing in her doorway with a handful of roses. The look on Anna's face gave away her concern, as Daryll whisked in to ask, "What's wrong, Baby?".
Anna was too choked up on her own emotions to respond and sobbed profusely into Daryll's chest. Anna was temporarily inconsolable- a complete wreck.
When Anna finally dried her tears, she began to tell Daryll about the gunshots she heard and how she thought something terrible had happened to him. Daryll reminded Anna of what he told her the first day that he returned home from prison.
"Baby, I'm done with that life, I made a promise to you and God that I would never ever put our future together in jeopardy again"
Daryll's words rang true just as they did almost 7 years ago. Anna will probably never fully heal from all the turmoil Daryll has brought into her life since they've been together. Anna's had to endure everything from cheating to court cases, stolen money and even prison. And the worst part of it is, the bulk of the stress she had to face alone..with no one to support her.
Anna's mind spanned years of memories in just the few seconds it took Daryll to say those few words. And with damp eyes, Anna looked up into the love her life and told him..
"Daryll, if you ever scare me like that again, I'll shoot you my damn self!" ^_^
