Being lonely can be one of the deepest darkest moments some people will face in life. This is also the reason that being lonely is the worst reason to get in a relationship.
When you're lonely, any guy that gives you the slightest amount of attention can seem like "The Million Dollar Man" even though he's only worth 50 cent. Besides, there are many other things you can do to fill that void in your life that offer less stress and can make you feel 10x better about yourself.
Would you like to know what they are? Because I'm dying to tell you..lol Try these things instead...

Get Out and Make Some Friends
Nothing cures the blues like a solid group of friends that you can talk to when times get tough. True friends will sit there and listen to your sob story, while fake friends will try to belittle your genuine concerns.
The benefit of having a solid network of people you can turn to in times of darkness is that they will offer words of encouragement and provide aid to help you persevere. You're not the first person to feel lonely nor will you be the last, but throwing a new boyfriend into the mix is basically like putting a band-aid over a gaping wound. It will work for a while, but eventually it bleeds through.
This is why you should bring other positive things into your life like pets, hobbies or activities that make you feel that you are a part of something greater than yourself.
Now I don't know what that will be for you, but talking with your group of trusted friends or getting a pet can be a good start.

Get A Pet
One of the benefits of getting a pet is that they are needy as fu.k..lol I'm serious, pets need constant attention and affection. Just imagine..you're walking to the park and you have this little waggley bag of bones with it's tail dancing around, excited to be alive and you are the reason it's so happy.
You. Not the birds. Not the trees, but you. You're continual nurturing and selflessness can bring nothing but immense joy to another being even when you feel that you have none left to give.
It's rather remarkable and I'm sure any dog lover or pet owner would say this very same thing. A pet can change your life.
But, if you're still on the fence...let me ask you..
Do you find it strange that bringing something into your life that probably needs more love and attention than you, could be an effective solution to dealing with your feelings of loneliness? Well, if you do, you shouldn't and I'll tell you why.
When we selflessly give of ourselves to others(in your case a pet) it will do something to your psyche, it has a way of boosting self-esteem. It will make you feel as though, even though you don't have much to offer, the little bit you have is more than enough to bring joy to another being's life.
And that's powerful. Even in a time of darkness you can make a difference.
But, if pets aren't your bag, you can always...

Explore A New Hobby
With all the crazy television shows and gadgets coming out, there's never a good reason for you to say that you don't have anything to do..or people to do it with.
A good plus to trying and developing new hobbies is that you meet new people. Think about it.
Let's take crafts for example, what's the first thing you have to do? You have to go to the store and find someone to help you get the right stuff. You have to talk to other people and exchange ideas, you have to start thinking outside of the box.
How does this benefit you? Well, for one..you're not moping around the house like an 80 yr old woman..lol You're out, you're alive and you have a new object of focus. You're excited about your new passion and people will begin to notice.
People will talk, people will ask questions. "Did you do that all by yourself?" "How did you do it?" "Girl, you need to get you an Instagram page".
You see where I'm going with this right? Exploring a new hobby takes you out of your comfort zone and shakes things up. You may find out that instead of a new "relationship" you just needed a good shake and who knows..maybe the cute guy in the crafts store will ask for your number;)

What To Take Away From This?
Feeling lonely is a part of life and it will hit us all at different times, even with a room full of people. No one is immune to feeling like they are an island all their own...at times.
But, when we fill our lives with things that are meaningful and add value to the lives of others, it's really hard to feel lonely. Because we know that even though our heart may be heavy, it's still light enough to make a difference.
*Sidenote* Just in case you were wondering..That cute guy in the crafts store meets you when your out "living and pursuing a passion" not when you're lonely;)
