As most of you know by now, being in a relationship takes a lot of time and energy. This is the reason we don't just hop in an out of relationships because the very act itself can be exhausting. Odd calls at all hours of the night, surprise trips, spending money no one planned for..You know the drill.
So now, looking at all of the things involved with being in a relationship, what's the point of your relationship? Why put yourself through all the hoops and hurdles if you don't have a rhyme or reason?

The best way to dive into this is by asking yourself a few questions to just put the money on the table. This isn't high school and we aren't in the fourth grade. We're going to find out the reason you are in your current relationship. And for those that don't have a current "Sweety" look back at your past ones.

What Do You Gain From Your Relationship?
What's the reason you're spending so much time with this one person, when you could be doing a million other things? Is it the sex? You feeling lonely? Are you looking for someone to watch movies with? What is it about this guy or girl that has you taking time out of your day to spend with them? These are real questions to ask yourself and in doing so, you learn more about your motivation. |
What Would You Like To Happen?
You want to get married and have kids? Take a trip to Indiana? Guam? What? Where do you want this "thing" to go? Think about it, you're spending time with this person that you will never get back. Are they worth it? Do they make you feel all tingly inside when your together? People don't spend time with people they don't want to build with, so why are you with them? There will be nothing worse than you wasting days, months or even years of your precious time with someone when you don't even know what you hope to gain. Or maybe you do? If so, proceed to the next "?" |
How Did Your Relationship Start?
Now this one should really put things into focus for you if you don't already have an idea. How did your relationship start? Was it a setup or was it something you wanted to happen? Was this simply a matter of convenience or something magical? The beginning of a relationship can be a good indicator of where it will go and what it will be about. So how did it start between you two? |

You will begin to gain a better picture of how you choose your relationships. What you're true motivations are for even being in a relationships and what you want out of your relationships.
