"When it comes to giving your babe money, make sure he or she is worth it!" -Jamaal(LoverOfLife) I hear this complaint all of the time, "She always asking for this" or "He's always wanting me to buy him that". Come on folks, seriously? Do we even need to break this one down? Well, since we're here, we might as well chop it up..lol But it's not just you, I've had to deal with the bullshit too..lol Money, Money Money! Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Now, sometimes there are perfectly good reasons to help your babe out and others not so perfect. Let's look at a few times when helping them out can be a good thing and a few situations where they are getting all up and over on ya. Ready? Let's Go! |
What Does A Good Reason Sound Like?
"Hey Babe, my mom is in the hospital again and the doctors don't think she's doing too well. I have to fly all the way to California where they have her on life support. Is there anyway you can help me out because I have some things I need to say to her before she passes on?" -Marie "Sweetie, Baby, How are you doing this morning? Look, um I just got fired from my job yesterday and I know, I know. I'm trying to be strong here, but a few of the other guys that got let go told me about this job opening two cities over. Now, I don't have the whole $75 that it's going to take for the cab, but can you help me out just a little bit?" -Steve "Baby, I've got a 14-inch drill bit sticking out of the side of my head and the doctor said it'll be $350 to take it out! Can you meet me at St. Peters with $300 and hat?" -Paul |
Now maybe it's just me, but those first two examples look like conversations that one could actually consider. I'm not saying someone should give them money, but at least consider and ponder their dilemma. After all, you are in a relationship and trying to build something together right?
Sidenote: If this is someone you just met, then wish them well and get the "What" outta there..lol It's too early for all that drama and you're not even an item yet.

What Does A "Hell No" sound like?
"Hey Babe, I just saw these shoes at the mall and they would look so good with my dress" -Cheryl "Check this out babe, the boys trying to go to to Jersey this weekend and I need you to loan me $500 for the trip" -Anthony "I would love to come see you this weekend, but I'm tryna find some money to get my nails done first -Shirika "Babe, I'm bout to get fresh, gimme a stack! -Jerome |
Yeah, the "Hell No's" are pretty easy to point out and disregard with the quickness. See, what it all boils down to is "Will giving them money help the relationship or just drain your pockets?". No one wants to be a pushover and no one wants to be called a scrooge either, but they better have a good damn reason before you even think of forking over money.
You've got to look at it like this, "What were they doing to get money before you came along?". How were they paying their bills? Where will they get the money if you don't give it to them? Is this how you really want your relationship to go because once you start they will keep asking? Just like cats, "If you put milk out they will keep coming back" and the moment you don't they will shit on your steps..lol

Well, hopefully this article will encourage you to roll things over once or twice before just forking over your hard-earned duckies. Remember, some people are out to give and some people are out to take all they can from whoever is giving. You just make sure if you give, you give with clarity and purpose. Don't give just because you think you're supposed to or just because they asked. Trust your judgement and good luck!
